Upland, California

Upland: Past & Present
Like many of the San Bernardino Valley areas, Upland’s roots are in agriculture. Upland started out as an irrigation colony, whose economy was based on the commercial production of citrus and grapes. Later, the Southern Pacific Railroad line connected to nearby Ontario by way of a trolley line which travelled through the tree-lined center of Euclid Avenue.

Though modern-day Upland no longer relies on a mule to pull the trolley through town, many of the community’s other features have maintained a sense of timelessness—the broad median of Euclid Avenue is still lined with trees, just as it was when the area was first settled, and the architecture of the city has been maintained over the years, with a number of adobe and ranch-style houses, updated for modern convenience and available for buyers of Upland real estate.
Some of the other communities convenient to Upland include Rancho Cucamonga, Highland, San Bernardino, Fontana, Loma Linda, Ontario, Redlands, Chino, Chino Hills, Rialto, Yucaipa, Colton, and Grand Terrace. One of the main draws for families looking to relocate to the San Bernardino Valley is the excellence of the public schools available to area students. Our public school systems, Upland Unified School District and the Chaffey Joint Union High School District, are committed to the purpose of making certain each student achieves their highest potential.

Secondary school students have an equal amount of choice in their education, making Upland a popular location for students who wish to commute into one of the number of Los Angeles area colleges and universities—but students who choose to stay close to home have no shortage of top-ranked schools to attend. Some of Upland’s local colleges and universities include California State University at San Bernardino, Chaffey College, Brandman University(Ontario Campus), Victor Valley College, National University(Ontario and San Bernardino Campuses), University of La Verne, University of Redlands, and Loma Linda University, just to name a few.
So whether you’re looking for a home that’s close to the beach but without the waterfront price tags, a family who wants to enjoy big-city convenience with a small-town personality, a student poised to join the Upland work force, or a commuter from Los Angeles, looking for a peaceful place to relax at the end of the day—Upland’s the perfect place to call home!
